Teaching children about intimacy is one of the most important responsibilities parents hold, yet it is often the most avoided. The videos on the “Why Should Parents Talk About Sexual Intimacy?” channel emphasize that when parents stay silent, children still learn, but they learn from peers, media, or the internet, often in distorted ways (mormon2011, 2013b).

One principle that stood out to me is that teaching intimacy is not one “big talk.” It is a series of small, age-appropriate conversations over many years. This fits perfectly with NEPEM’s “Providing” and “Advocating” categories. Parents are protectors, not by withholding information, but by preparing their children with light and truth.

Parents often fear this topic because they worry about saying the wrong thing or introducing it too early. But the lesson from Week 6 reminded me that small, simple truths; offered in calm, loving moments, will always bless children. These conversations build trust, confidence, and a foundation of safety.
